Operation Technology

Compressed air, high-voltage current and inert gases in their purest form – a lot of special technical facilities are needed to perform top-level research in molecular biology.

By providing regular maintenance and prompt repairs, the staff of the Technical Equipment and Installation Unit ensures that

  • the heating, energy and water supply systems, the elevators, distillation and cooling equipment are functioning
  • the technical security systems of the Institute are working reliably
  • the research labs have a secure supply of ultrapure gases such as argon, oxygen or carbon dioxide and that they are supplied with compressed air and completely deferrised water.

Moreover, the team is the first to be contacted when Institute scientists need to have already existing technical facilities expanded – whether it is in the area of electrical engineering (high- and low-voltage current), room air conditioning or sanitary facilities.
