Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology
Call for Expressions of Interest
for a Max Planck Director (m/f/d) in the general area of chemical and physical biology, mechanistic biology or computational biology.
The MPI-MOPH is a pioneering research institute focused on the exploration of fundamental processes of life. To achieve this, we - an international team of cell biologists, biochemists, chemists, and physicists - cooperate in many of our projects across research fields and thus link the expertise of our various disciplines. The aim of our research is to gain a holistic picture of how key proteins mediate vital processes and how networks of proteins regulate the behavior of living cells. The spectrum of our topics encompasses the investigation of mechanisms that control cell growth, muscular movement, signal transduction, and the causes of cancer.
Applicants should be highly qualified internationally recognized experts in their field of research, which could be in the general area of chemical and physical biology, mechanistic biology, or computational biology with a strong molecular component, but other areas of modern research in the life sciences are not excluded. There should be a willingness and ability to interact with or complement other interests in the institute, including mechanistic cell biology, systemic cell biology, chemical biology, and structural biochemistry of large complex systems. Candidates should have demonstrated outstanding ability and innovative potential, and these aspects are more important than their current level of seniority. Their work should be characterized by a high level of scholarship and scientific stringency. They are expected to show continued creativity as well as academic leadership and should be dedicated to mentoring younger scientists. The institute and the Max Planck Society offer outstanding working conditions including generous long-term core funding and excellent scientific infrastructure that is continually modernized.
The Expressions of Interest should be sent to Stefan Raunser
