The Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at the TU Dortmund awarded Dr. Dennis Quentin at the 12th Day of Chemistry with the thesis award from “Evonik Industries AG”. The prize, endowed with 400 Euros, aims at supporting young scientists.

In his PhD thesis Dennis established the recombinant production of the elusive human membrane protein CLN3p, which is known for its crucial role in Batten disease, using four of the most common heterologous expression hosts. Furthermore, he biochemically and structurally characterized the Tse6 effector-loaded spike complex of the Type VI secretion system.

Dr. Michael Grange, another Postdoc in the Raunser Lab, received the prestigious and very competitive EMBO Long-Term Fellowship. This fellowship is awarded for a period of up to two years and supports post-doctoral research visits to laboratories throughout Europe and the world. International exchange is a key feature in the application process.
